E - Safety at Westroyd

Information and communication technology is about much more than just computers. We hope to help children make sense of the technological world around them - from digital cameras and games consoles to traffic lights and tape recorders. As well as teaching basic computer skills we teach children the importance of being safe and how to use technology safely and respectfully.

ICT forms a vital link between all areas of the School curriculum. We aim to enable children to use ICT as a tool to explore, investigate and communicate in all subject areas as part of their whole School experience.

Internet and electronic technology are part of every child's life, whether it be cameras, I Pads, computing, Xbox or playstations. They can be exciting, engaging and can significantly improve children's knowledge and understanding of many aspects at home and in School.

Leeds Safe Guarding Children's Board provides some guidance for parents and simple step by step instructions on how to set privacy settings on popular applications and game consoles used by children.

UK Safer Internet Centre

The UK Safer Internet Centre offers a parents guide to technology. This is a guide to some of the most popular devices, highlighting safety tools available and empowering parents with the knowledge they need to support their children to use these technologies safely and responsibly.
