WESTROYD VISION

Westroyd Primary School and Nursery provides a safe, happy and nurturing environment for all pupils. We promote respect for each other through learning to understand Farsley and the wider community we live in. We challenge pupils to fulfil their full potential through an inspiring and creative curriculum, which will also help them gain the basic skills they need to become lifelong learners.
 

The curriculum at Westroyd is driven by an approach through which all children can achieve high standards and make good progress building on their prior learning. Embedding key skills is at the heart of a well-balanced, engaging curriculum which allows children to become motivated, successful and lifelong learners. We believe that children need to have fun, engage in exciting first-hand experiences and have a love of learning. Our curriculum provides opportunities for children to learn about our diverse, local and global community in order for them to develop understanding and respect to be a good citizen.

The Westroyd Learning Poster was created to encourage positive attitudes towards learning. The poster is visible throughout Nursery and School. It underpins our learning philosophy - children and adults use the poster every single day to reflect on learning.

We celebrate 'Westroyd Learners' in our weekly celebrations assembly.
