Currently, myself, Mr Popple and Mrs Brown share an office. Mr Popple is untidy and does a lot of loud sighing, Mrs Brown types really fast and noisily, and I don’t stay sitting down for more than four minutes. However, we overcome our annoying habits, because working in the same room creates the opportunity for us to continuously reflect, evaluate and plan. This ensures our children are getting the best primary education they can! As we are all over the age of 13, we have our own What’s app group called “The Sheep Haven” (If you have ever been in our office, you will understand that name!) Meaning when we are not in the same place we can still communicate. It also creates the opportunity for Mr P to create and send entertaining GIF’s that he makes using AI. Always needed at the end of a tough day! But there is something going on in school that is nothing to do with us leaders. The appearance of tiny lambs in random places around the school. It has been going on for two weeks now, and in the last week, the species has changed to golden ducks and even frogs have been spotted! They keep moving too! The staff are bewildered and so are the children. The staff think it is me, as I am in school, very early every day before anyone else and often the last to leave. The children think it is me, because I love sheep. BUT IT IS NOT ME! These little animals are causing quite a stir and intrigue. We are all wondering what will happen next, and who is doing this????
Always a bit of fun going on somehow at Westroyd!
This week our friend Mr Clough popped into school over lunch to see us all. Talk about celebrity status from staff and the children. We were all so pleased to see him, and he even brought the staff a big bag full of cans of pop from his new place of work! Sadly for us, he is not bored by his new role yet, although he says he misses us and the children an awful lot. Always thinking of us, he is trying to get his new company to do some volunteer days in school. So, watch this space. Mr Clough will always be part of our Westroyd family.
Very proud of our football team this week, with a challenging match and a 4-2 victory in a local derby against Springbank. Always, we go out believing we can win, we give it all we have got. On this occasion, it paid off, with a clear win.
Governors were in school on Friday providing monitoring and challenge to myself and Mr P. We are very lucky to have such professional and committed governors at Westroyd, who are committed and take their role seriously. Lots of passion for our little school in our governing body.
I ended my day on Friday in what was the highlight of my week, I think. A cup of tea with a small group of children and Mrs Downing. The biscuits were dunked in the tea, and we took turns to chat and listen to each other, generally discussing life! Chewing the cud I call it.
This week we have our harvest festival. Some Y6 children and I went to church on Friday to test out the stereo system. I always take children with me if we go out in the community and on this occasion they were there to quality assure my IT knowledge. However, none of us could find the promised blue cable to plug into the school phone or laptop. So we have contacted the vicar to help us! Going to be a joyful event with some of Westroyd’s Harvest classics whilst also collecting food for our friends at the Pudsy Community Food Bank.
