Each week we will be keeping you up to date with a "Wow of the Week". In addition to this, please read our half termly curriculum map to find out what will be happening in Year 4.
PE - Wednesday and Thursday. Please come to school in your PE kit on these days and these days only.
Books - Change books on Friday. Your child will come home with 2 new reading books and a library book every Friday. Please make sure you have been reading at home at least three times a week. Please record any reading you have done in your reading diary. Your reading diary must always be in your bookbag so that we can read with you in school.
Spellings - New spellings will be set every Friday. Please check the homework tab every Friday for your child's spelling list. Spelling tests will take place the following Friday.
What a brilliant second week we’ve had together in Year 4!
In English, we have been busy practicing our expanded noun phrases. We used these to bring to life the beautiful scenery and fascinating characters from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We’re really enjoying our class novel, and it’s been exciting to use our inference and summarising skills to dig deeper into the story.
In Science, we explored the incredible journey of the digestive system. We learned how our food travels through the body, discovering each step along the way. It was fascinating to find out what really happens after we eat!
What a brilliant start we’ve had to the new school year! This week, we reminded ourselves of our classroom and school expectations and even set some exciting targets as a class to help us earn our sheep points.
We were thrilled to dive into our new class novel, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We’ve been busy making predictions about what Mr Tumnus might do with Lucy, as well as sharing our ideas about the mysterious White Witch.
In maths, Miss Knight-Francis is so impressed with us! We’ve shown fantastic understanding of place value and have been challenging ourselves with tricky depth questions—Year 4 really are amazing mathematicians.
In RE, we learned all about the story of Hanukkah and the importance of dreidels. The best part was getting to make our very own dreidels, which we loved.
What a fantastic way to begin the year—we can’t wait to see what comes next!
