Welcome to Reception!

Each week we'll be keeping you up to date with a "blog". In addition to this, please read our half-termly curriculum map to find out what will be happening in Reception. 

Important information

PE - Thursdays. Please come to school in your PE kit on this day and this day only. 

Books - Change books on  Friday. Your child will come home with a library book every Friday and a phonics book every Friday.  Please make sure you have been reading at home at least three times a week. Please record any reading you have done in your reading diary. Your reading diary must always be in your book bag so that we can read with you in school. 

Phonics – We are leering to blend sounds into word orally and single letter sounds. Please watch "Fred Games" and the "single letter sounds" which can be found on the continuing reading – Phonics.  

Maths - Please log onto Numbots and practice with your child at home.

Autumn 1

Week 3

This week we have been talk all about our families and learning about ourselves! We have created self-portraits after learning about the artist Hanoch Pivan.

Week 2

We've had such a fun week in Reception settling into our classroom routines and talking all about our feelings with The Colour Monster! The children also dived straight into their maths learning, they have been learning to subitise to 3 (instantly spot amounts up to 3 without counting), show numbers in different ways on their fingers, and hunt for tiny hidden groups of 1, 2, and 3. On top of all that, we got stuck into our phonics and have officially learnt our first 5 sounds!

Week 1

What a fantastic first week in Reception! The children have settled in brilliantly, making new friends and exploring every corner of the classroom. Outdoor play has been a hit, especially racing along the bike track! We're so excited for the term ahead.
