On behalf of all the children, staff and governors, we warmly welcome you to Farsley Westroyd Primary School and Nursery. Our school is a Local Authority-maintained community setting, located in the heart of Farsley village. We are a one-form entry primary school which sits on a split site. The Nursery and Reception classes are on our specialist Early Years site, which is separate to our Main School. We have a very popular, excellent teacher-led educational nursery provision for 3 and 4-year-olds and offer 15 and 30-hour places. We also run our own school managed on-site wraparound provision which is available from 7:30am - 6:00pm.
At Farsley Westroyd we are one big happy, caring, friendly family, with the children as the core of everything we do. Coming to work everyday, at this school is an absolute joy! The children, the staff, the governors they are just great individuals to be around! We even have the cutest family pet in the world at our school, Rosie the dog! Quite famous in the Farsley locality. The inspector in our recent Ofsted inspection, April 2025, summed it up beautifully. "The children of this school are an absolute delight!" "They feel safe, self-assured and are proud to be who they want to be!" I think the reason we do all get along, is because we invest in building positive reciprocal relationships, and we also have a well-balanced approach of working hard, high expectations but also a commitment to having lots of fun along the way! We must be getting it right, as Ofsted confirmed our opinion and rated our behaviour and attitudes to be outstanding!
All you need to do is step into our school and you will feel the buzz! We believe children only have one go at their primary education, and it is our job to make sure it is the best it can be! The standard of teaching and learning is exceptional at this school, with our approach based upon the latest research and guidance. We are always fresh and up to date, so that the impact upon pupil outcomes is strong.
We are a very inclusive school. It not only goes with the family approach, but the level of knowledge and expertise in supporting pupils with the widest range of special educational needs and pastoral needs is well above average. This is due to the strengths and experience within the staff team, including myself as headteacher and ex SENCO.
We welcome everyone at this school, and encourage you to visit and experience what it is like to be part of our Westroyd family. We are very down to earth and what you see on any day, is what happens everyday!
