On behalf of all the children, staff and governors, we warmly welcome you to Farsley Westroyd Primary School and Nursery. Our school is a Local Authority-maintained community setting, located in the heart of Farsley village. We are a one-form entry primary school which sits on a split site. The Nursery and Reception classes are on our specialist Early Years site, which is separate to our Main School. We have a very popular, excellent teacher-led educational nursery provision for 3 and 4-year-olds and offer 15 and 30-hour places. We also run our own school managed on-site wraparound provision which is available from 7:30am - 6:00pm.
At Farsley Westroyd we are one big happy, caring, friendly family, with the children as the core of everything we do. It is an absolute joy to come to work every day to be with such confident, polite, well-behaved, kind, hard-working children, who also have an eye for fun! As the Headteacher, my own life values are strongly promoted throughout the school. As a very positive person, I strongly believe life is for living, and as our children only get one chance at their primary education, it is important that we encourage them to take every opportunity that comes along, give it 100% and enjoy every second! All you need to do is step into our school and you will feel the buzz! It really is a great place to be! We believe very strongly that it is essential for a child to feel safe, be self-assured and proud to be who they are. This not only puts them in the right position to learn in school but also prepares them to be resilient in life and enables them to believe they can achieve anything.
As a small one-form entry school, this means that the staff know the Westroyd children and families well. Our school community is often referred to by many as our 'Westroyd family'. As a result of this, it is often commented on how welcoming and inclusive Westroyd is and this is something we are very proud of. Children are encouraged to have roles and responsibilities, so that they feel a strong sense of belonging whilst also creating a sense of ownership and pride.
At Farsley Westroyd we have high expectations for our children, and they will be successful during their time with us. We prioritise our teaching to ensure that all children have a strong grasp of the basic skills in core areas of learning. This not only helps them at our school but prepares them for the next stage of their education and life beyond school! Our ultimate aim is for our pupils to make a positive contribution to society and demonstrate positive attitudes in our diverse society.
Children will have a greater opportunity to reach their full potential if home and school work together, and we encourage any opportunity for this to happen. We are always open to feedback, so do get in touch.
