Welcome

On behalf of all the children, staff and governors we welcome you to Westroyd Primary School & Nursery. We are a community school set within the heart of Farsley village.  We are a one-form entry primary school which sits on a split site. The Nursery and Reception classes are in our Early Years site which is separate to our Main School. We have a Nursery provision for 3 and 4 year olds and offer 15 and 30 hour places.  We also run our own on-site wraparound provision  which is available from 7:30am - 6:00pm.

Welcome from the Headteacher

At Westroyd, children are at the core of everything that we do. We believe very strongly that it is essential for a child to feel happy and safe if they are to learn to the best of their ability and we work very hard to ensure this is the case for everyone at Westroyd.

Westroyd is a small one-form entry school and this means that the staff and I know the Westroyd children and families well.  Our school community is often referred to by many as our 'Westroyd family'. As a result of this, it is often commented on how welcoming and inclusive Westroyd is and this is something we are very proud of.

It is essential that whilst at Westroyd, we provide children with the strong foundations that enable them to go on and do well in whatever they choose to do. Children need to be taught basic  skills of reading, writing, numeracy and computing and how to apply these skills in every day life. Above all children need to learn how to be life long learners. If children have the confidence and enthusiasm 'to have a go' and the basic skills necessary for future learning, we will have provided a very sound basis for their education. At Westroyd, we have a commitment to teach children about the diverse world we live in and strive towards encouraging children to respect and care for others.

Children will have a greater opportunity to reach their full potential if home and school work together. We would like you to join us in helping your child become a life long learner and good citizen of Westroyd School.
