We are now reviewing all sounds, using the format of our new Read Write Inc! scheme of learning. All children in Year 1 have been informally assessed to establish which sounds they know securely. They are being taught in 4 groups to allow teaching staff to support their progress and allow as many pupils as possible to pass the statutory phonics screening test in June.
There is still a lot of practice to be done, and phonics lessons and interventions happen daily. Use the sound mats and 'alien' words below to help your child practise at home.
Summer Half Term Holiday
A pack has been sent home with your child to help you support them with their phonics practice over the half term holiday - please check book bags!
Some children have been provided with an additional pack containing the particular sounds that they struggle with.
Every little helps and it is vital that you practise throughout the Half Term holiday week, so that your child's progress is maintained in the run up to the statutory phonics screening test.
Happy practising!

You could make your own flashcards to help the children read and write these GPC's at home.
If you would like printed copies please ask a member of the year 1 teaching team.
